Butterfly Haven
I was inspired to paint "Butterfly Haven" while on retreat at Easternpoint in Gloucester, MA. On the grounds of the retreat house nestled on the coastline; I found myself watching and studying three Monarch Butterflies as they moved in and out of bushes and flowers that hugged the rocky coastline. They seemed to be focused on their purpose in life and I was contemplating their short life span and considering my own life and purpose. It is interesting to note that when you step back and look at the completed painting there seems to be a "heart shape” made up from the paintings shadows and depth, right in the middle of the painting. This was not done on purpose. But perhaps the answer to how to live with purpose for me is once again revealed in nature as I captured it on the canvas. ( Oringinal Available )
